A few facts about the Sweffling White Horse

  • The pub was opened in 2011 by Marie and Mark after having been vacant for 8 years.
  • It is one of very few remaining pubs with no bar where ale is poured straight from the cask from the taproom behind the kitchen.
  • The owners are proud to serve cask conditioned real ale in the traditional way i.e. directly from the cask. No keg beer is served though bottled beer is available.
  • The pub was the East Anglia CAMRA Pub of the Year in 2015.
  • It was also the Ipswich & East Suffolk CAMRA Pub of the Year in 2022, 2021, 2017, 2016 & 2015 as well as Suffolk CAMRA Pub of the Year in 2022 & 2015
  • The owners are proud to use locally sourced products, with the beer mostly coming from Suffolk and adjoining counties.
  • The pub is heated entirely by wood, a renewable source of energy, and so has a cosy feel. The public bar has a wood-fired range cooker and the lounge has a wood burning stove.
  • Outside there is a very attractive beer garden which is partially covered and can comfortably seat 42 people.
  • There is a self-contained adjoining cottage (Badger Cottage) currently used as holiday accommodation and two residential rentals above the pub which could be available for lease.
  • The Sweffling White Horse is most definitely a community pub and has that welcoming, friendly atmosphere.
  • Many community events are held by the pub, including Book Club, Chess Club, Knit & Natter, monthly Community Walks, Quiz Nights, Community Suppers, Open Mic Night and Live Music Nights.

The pub has also won many prestigious awards:
